The Face(s) of Africa

Some of the people we met while traveling…

This is a grandmother (they call them Gogo’s) we met in South Africa who now cares for her 3 grandchildren who are AIDS orphans.

This is a picture of the man I wrote about here.

The face of an AIDS orphan we met - he has 4 siblings, all living with a Go-go. His baby brother is HIV positive.

What a set of pics. Hope you and the family are doing well. JB

There’s something so very familiar in this grandmother’s face. Is it determination? Perhaps. Is it concern? No doubt? Is it love? Absolutely! In fact, I see a twinge of joy and pride too. The language of Grandmas is universally spoken in face lines.
